Jönköping University and Saab in Jönköping enter into strategic partnership

Jönköping University and Saab in Jönköping have signed a strategic partnership agreement. The agreement creates an opportunity to work together on a long-term basis to develop education and research that will strengthen Swedish industry.

"We have had a good cooperation with the university for a long time and we are looking forward to developing and solidifying it. One of our biggest challenges within Saab is to find the right competence and to develop the competence that we have. We see the strategic partnership with JU as an important part of meeting that challenge," says Michael Lidbäck from Saab.

Jönköping University's education and research environment SPARK focuses on knowledge intensive product realization. SPARK will be the collaboration arena for the strategic partnership. The goal is to develop education and research that will strengthen
Swedish industry, both nationally and internationally. Well-trained workforce, relevant skills development and new knowledge through co-produced research will contribute to sustainable growth, competitiveness and attractiveness in Sweden, with a focus on the Jönköping region.

"We are proud and pleased to enter into a strategic partnership with Saab. Together we will be able to develop new knowledge and competence that is useful for the industry. We can also address the challenges facing Swedish industry and ensure that the students we train are properly equipped for a modern working life," says Ingrid Wadskog, Managing Director and Dean at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University.

With the new agreement, Saab becomes the fifth company that signs a strategic partnership agreement with Jönköping University. Earlier this year, Scania Oskarshamn, Husqvarna, Kongsberg Automotive and Fagerhult entered into similar partnerships with the university. The collaboration with Saab includes the independent technical consulting company Combitech, which is part of the Saab group.
