New publication: Fooled by Diversity? When diversity initiatives exacerbate rather than mitigate equality

What is the business case logic for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives?

In their recent article "Fooled by Diversity? When diversity initiatives exacerbate rather than mitigate equality", MMTC member Timur Umand together with coauthors Karin Hellerstedt (Jönköping International Business School) and Karl Wennberg (Stockholm School of Economics) highlight the value-in-diversity logic for organizations and compare this with both the recent logic of power activism driven by internal and external lobbying and the classical moral justice logic originating in the civil rights movement. They show how the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion are seen differently in research and advocacy as organizational inputs, sought-for outputs, or as a context for social change in each respective logic and further discuss what research and practice can learn from considering the underlying rationales for diversity, equity, and inclusion across different logics and explicate how organizations can benefit from this.
