Research
At the Institute of Gerontology (IFG), research on older adults and aging is conducted from a life course perspective and with a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The research highlights various aspects of older adults and aging.
IFG has, for example, a long tradition of longitudinal population and twin studies aimed at understanding social, psychological, biological, and functional aging from a life course perspective. IFG also conducts research that highlights the social situation and position of older individuals in society. Applied research is an important part of IFG's work, often carried out in collaboration with the surrounding community. The research is conducted within the School of Health Sciences' research environment SIHW and the Jönköping Academy.
