Bahram Salamatravandi
Bahram Salamat Ravandi is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computer Science at Jönköping University (JTH), specializing in human-centered machine learning, multimodal interaction, and applied AI. He earned his PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where his research focused on human-robot interaction, behavioral modeling, and designing engagement models that integrate gaze, facial expressions, head pose. During his doctoral studies, he also investigated human-vehicle interaction, studying the effects of intoxication on engagement in driving simulator tasks. Prior to his PhD, he completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics at Isfahan University of Technology, Iran, where his master’s thesis centered on computer vision for autonomous vehicles, developing perception systems capable of analyzing and interpreting complex road surfaces. He holds a BSc in Information Technology from the University of Tabriz, Iran, where he built a strong foundation in computer networks, programming, and fundamental computer science principles. His research spans social robotics, computer vision, affective computing, and applied multimodal interaction, with projects ranging from multimodal engagement detection and driver internal state analysis to the development of companion robots.
