Media and Communications
The media are permeating more or less our entire existence, and that is why the research field of Media and Communications has grown rapidly over recent years.
At Jönköping University, this research environment has a strong international profile. We are internationally well-recognized in the research fields of environmental communication in general and climate journalism in particular as well as in the field of global journalism. Our research supports the Media and Communication BA program, and the MA program Sustainable Communication.
The research environment Media and Communications at Jönköping University (MCS@JU) is profiled towards Sustainable Communication. The aim of this research is to produce knowledge about how communication in various contexts – in journalism, in organizations, in politics etc. – might contribute to meeting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN’s sustainability agenda, i.e. to a sustainable society. MCS@JU addresses all three dimensions of sustainability – environmental, social, and economic – and how communication in various forms might contribute to their reconciliation.
Within the framework of this research profile, the MCS researchers run the program Sustainable Communication, whose aim is to develop knowledge about the role of communication in sustainable development challenges (mediated communication in particular). Read more about this program here.
