What is Financial Management for small and medium-sized businesses?

The course aims to highlight the role of financial management as a tool for small and medium-sized businesses to achieve their goals and implement strategies. The course emphasizes the importance of financial management for businesses, different methods and models used in financial management, and how they can be applied. It also includes analysis and critical reasoning on the causes and effects of financial management. Areas that are focused on are costs, budgeting, and performance measurement in the context of small and medium-sized businesses.

The course is based on prominent research from the Center for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership and its practical relevance. Here, JIBS core competencies in family businesses and ownership are found. It is an academically as well as practically oriented course in financial management for small and medium-sized businesses. The course is well connected to JIBS research areas: ownership and entrepreneurship. The academic aspect is illustrated through the application of real-world examples.
