About the programme:

Production processes are constantly evolving and a key concern for industry is the development of sustainable products to improve efficiency and resource use. With the increasing demand for sustainability, many companies need to review and change their production methods, creating a great need for qualified professionals with knowledge of the latest technology. By learning about materials and manufacturing processes and their interaction on the properties of the final product, you will gain the skills required for sustainable production.

This master’s program will introduce you to sustainable production. You will learn about materials and manufacturing technologies and how to select materials and manufacturing processes based on performance and sustainability. You will use simulations to explore how these processes affect the final product. During your studies, you will also design a sustainable product, choosing the material, manufacturing processes, final geometry, and appearance by considering the required properties and its life cycle assessment.

By the end of the first year, you will have the necessary knowledge in this area. In the second year you will choose your specialisation. Both options include a project course or industrial placement linked to materials and manufacturing research. You will also write your master’s thesis.

This programme will provide you with the most required skills for an engineer or R&D team member. Upon graduation, you will be a valuable resource in product-related industries, where you can optimise engineering components based on performance, environmental impact, and cost.

After graduation, you are eligible to apply for the PhD programme at JTH, as well as many other PhD programmes worldwide.
