“Engaging the next generation in the family firm: When and how to do it?”

Speaker: Isabel Botero
Isabel is an Associate Professor and the Former Director of the Family Business Center at the University of Louisville. She has been a Faculty Member at multiple universities, including the University of Louisville, Stetson University, the University of Kentucky, and Aarhus University. Isabel is an award-winning researcher and international speaker who has worked and published with research teams from Australia, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and England. Her research focuses on strategic communication processes and next-generation issues in family enterprises. She is an associate editor for the Journal of Family Business Strategy and a past FOBI Scholar, with over 40 publications in journals such as the Family Business Review, Journal of Family Business Strategy, Journal of Family Business Management, Journal of Management Studies, and Management Communication Quarterly. She is a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute, a Certified Exit Planning Advisor for EPI – Exit Planning Institute, and she holds an Advanced Certificate in Family Wealth Advising. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Communications from Michigan State University. She acts as a board member and treasurer of the International Family Business Research Academy (IFERA) since 2017.
