Welcome to join the "spikning" ceremony of Ann-Christin Björklund's (Health and Care Sciences) thesis, titled Participation in everyday life for children who have completed brain tumour treatment, in Röda Rummet, HHJ

The official ceremony during which Alireza Khoshghadam literally nails his doctoral thesis in Economics to the wall takes place on Monday, 12th of May at 1.15 pm, on the second floor in the entrance hall of JIBS.

The title of Alireza’s thesis is "Four Essays on Retirement, Labor Supply, and Tax Evasion"

Alireza Khoshghadam will defend his doctoral thesis in Economics at a public defence on Monday, 2nd of June 2025 at 1 pm in B1014 at JIBS.

This online workshop, organized by the EULiST Task Group 2.5 Student/Academic Services, will bring together colleagues from across EULiST to explore ways to enhance mobility opportunities for students with disabilities. The session will focus on raising awareness, sharing best practices, and providing practical insights on available services and funding opportunities.

Workshop Objectives:

• Raise awareness of services available to students with disabilities in mobility programs.
• Provide practical information on funding opportunities, including Erasmus+ support.
• Promote inter-university cooperation by addressing challenges and sharing best practices.
• Facilitate discussions on how universities can improve support for students and staff.

Event Structure:

• Plenary Session: Experts from our universities will share insights on inclusive mobility, funding opportunities, and inter-university cooperation.
• Breakout Rooms: Interactive discussions on key topics, allowing participants to exchange experiences and strategies.

This workshop is designed for staff working in inclusion and diversity offices, international offices involved in mobility, teachers interested in inclusive education, and people with disabilities who want to share their experiences and insights. Particularly this workshop concerns the Task Group 2.5 Student Services, Task Group 1.6 Diversity and Inclusion and the mobility group Erasmus Task Force. Please forwards to any person at your institution interested in this opportunity.

MMTC research Seminar presented by guest Cindy Price Shultz

Cindy is presenting the research titled as "Moving Journalism in a New Direction? Business Models of Digital News Organizations in Kazakhstan".

Journalists everywhere are concerned about how to keep their news organizations operating during these rapidly changing times. Some of those journalists are their own managers, as they created digital businesses to fill niches they saw in the information vacuum. Research has focused on digital business models in North America and Europe, but none has centered on Central Asia. Because these countries were part of the former Soviet Union, they had business models that relied on government support of journalism. However, those outlets would not be considered “free press.” Since Kazakhstan gained independence more than 30 years ago, some media managers have moved away from the government-supported model to produce independent news. The current research study interviewed 12 of those journalists to see what they are doing to adjust to the digital news space and have successful journalism businesses. The research question was, How do culture and location influence how digital news organizations strategically respond to changes in the journalism industry in Kazakhstan? In sum, Kazakhstan is a growing area related to digital news organizations, but very little research has been done in Central Asia. Therefore, this study is a good start in examining Central Asian journalism entrepreneurship and how they have used cultural knowledge to adapt to changing times.

Jönköping Academy is part of Co-Lab, a seminar series on co-production led by the Dartmouth Institute with an international audience. The network organizes seminars every month and these are open to anyone who is curious about the subject. At this seminar, the 6-year research program Samskapa, which has engaged several researchers at Jönköping Academy at the School of Health and Welfare and King's College London, is summarized.

Doctoral student seminars - Doctoral Programme - Jönköping University

On 28 May, the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) will have its graduation ceremony at Jönköping Concert & Congress at Elmia in Jönköping.

The students are divided between two graduation ceremonies, starting at 11.30 and 15.00. They last for approximately 1.5 hours. Students need to register for the ceremonies by 30 April.
