Inger Janson’s research interest is mainly concerning working life and how access to the labor market can be enhanced for people with health problems, social problems or disabilities. Work ability is a dynamic concept with various meanings. The concept thus needs to be illuminated from both an individual an employer and a rehabilitation perspective as well as an insurance medical perspective to understand its meaning and what consequences a limited ability to work may imply from the various perspectives. The various perspectives on work ability needs to be considered not only for improving the individual’s work ability but also for improving rehabilitation measures, work adaptation, conditions in working life as well as domestic life. Additionally, Inger Jansson has problematized paid work for the purpose to be self-sufficient and has raised basic income as an alternative for diminishing vulnerability for marginalized groups and for enhancing a sustainable working life.

Currently, Inger Jansson’s research is oriented towards complementary methods for diminishing mental ill health and enable return to work. The complementary methods that are researched, are creative arts activities in group and existential conversations, also in group.

Inger Jansson is a Council Certified Specialist in Occupational Therapy in the area of Work and education.
