CCD international seminar: Postdigital Poetics of Connection: Digital Transformation and Contemporary Analogue Fiction

Dr. Anna-Lena Eick is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of General and Comparative Literature at the Gutenberg Institute for World Literature and Written Media, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and an affiliated researcher at CLIC (VUB Brussels). Her current project investigates how contemporary analogue novels from Western Europe and North America (2010–present) engage with the contemporary mediascape through innovative form-aesthetic reconfigurations and media-reflexivity. It explores what she terms Postdigital Poetics of Connection (PPC), examining how analogue fiction negotiates the nexus between digital mediality and interpersonal connectedness in the postdigital age. Operating at the intersection of intermediality studies and narratology, her work analyzes how literary texts reflect on and reconfigure the cultural, social, and epistemological implications of digital infrastructures. This focus also encompasses questions of identity, belonging, and relationality across lines of gender, race, class, and culture, contributing to current debates on literature’s role in articulating postdigital conditions.
