Francesco Chirico

Professor

Francesco Chirico is a Professor of Strategy and Family Business. He is former co-Director of the Center for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO) at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS, Sweden). Before joining JIBS, he worked at Texas A&M University, Mays Business School in the US.

In 2019 Francesco Chirico joined Macquarie Business School (Sidney, Australia) as Professor of Strategy and Family Business, while maintaining an affiliation and part time appointment at JIBS. 

His research focuses on the intersection of strategy and entrepreneurship with a special focus on family firms. Francesco Chirico’s studies explore resource management processes and acquisition and divestiture strategies that affect the realization of competitive advantage and value creation in organizations. Francesco Chirico's research has been published in leading international journals including, among others, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship, Theory & Practice, Organization Studies, Human Relations, Small Business Economics, and Family Business Review. He serves on the editorial review board of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and Family Business Review. He is a member of the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, International Family Enterprise Research Association, Family Enterprise Research Conference.
