High Performing Components by Casting – Development of Products, Process and Materials

The focus of the proposed research program is limited to the following research areas:

  • Process and microstructure formation: metallurgy, phase transformations, fundamentals for the microstructure development including defect formation in the casting products, includes kinetic modelling of phase transformations.
  • Influence of microstructure on mechanical and physical properties response: materials characterization and properties modelling, including the effect of heat treatment, material properties at elevated temperature. Material properties includes both physical and mechanical behaviour.

Modelling and simulation for efficient component design: stress calculations and simulation of temperature and/or mechanical load.
