Sustainability is a systems problem with humans as integral elements of the system. Therefore human-systems sciences such as ergonomics/human factors can play an important role in understanding sustainability problems and finding/implementing solutions. However, existing sociotechnical systems analysis tools are too narrow and require additional considerations. Conversation on Sustainability with Experts on Outdoor Spaces

This lecture brings up the importance of setting measurable environmental goals and assess environmental buildings when working to create more sustainable buildings. Some of the questions to be answered are: “Which environmental aspects are important to take into account when designing buildings? and “How future urban outdoor environments should be designed to become more resilient and long-term sustainable?.” Some learning from research projects on the Swedish environmental assessment method Miljöbyggnad and EU projects on attractive resilient outdoor environments “Augmented Urbans” will also be presented.
