This year’s Spring Celebration featured songs, speeches and music
On Walpurgis Night, Sunday 30 April, spring was celebrated in Hälsoparken on campus. For the first time, the spring celebration was co-organized by Jönköping University (JU) together with Jönköping Student Union, which resulted in a record number of visitors.
Jönköping University’s Vocal Ensemble, JUVE, led by conductor Dan Boberg, welcomed spring and the visitors with traditional songs such as Sköna maj, Studentsången and Våren kom en valborgsnatt. Anders Jonzon, Chief Communications Officer at JU, was the presenter and he talked about his own student days, overalls traditions, and the spring celebrations.
“The event was very successful. The weather was on our side, and already an hour before the start there were probably around 300 students present. When the beautiful singing from JUVE started, the crowd had increased to 700-800 people,” says Anders Jonzon.
Robert Gunnarsson, Vice President for Education, delivered this year’s spring speech, which was followed by a couple more songs from the choir. The spring celebration ended at 13:00 and then it was time for the student union’s activities in the form of competitions, music, and DJ.
