Cyber-attacks on other Swedish universities

Recently, several public institutions in Sweden have been subject to various cyber-attacks. These include several higher education institutions, such as Gothenburg University, KTH, Lund University and Linnaeus University. Jönköping University has not been subject to an attack so far.

Sunet (Swedish HEI’s joint internet service provider) took measures over the weekend to limit malicious traffic. On Monday morning, Sunet removed the temporary protection. A lot of work has started within on analysis and improvement measures.

At the same time, there are several phishing campaigns targeting higher education institutions, asking staff and students to update their passwords by following a link.

JU’s IT department urges both staff and students to be vigilant and careful, for instance, in connection with requests to click on unknown links and attachments in e-mails. If you are uncertain, please contact the IT Helpdesk External link, opens in new window.
