Exchange Student at Jönköping University autumn 2024

Before Arrival

By now, you should have already applied for student housing through our Accommodation Office. Make sure you announce your arrival to Accommodation Office between 1-20 July to confirm your application. Note: if you do not announce your arrival, you will lose your guaranteed accommodation!

 

Keep in mind that it can be hard to find private accommodation in Jönköping, so we strongly recommend you to follow through with the student housing application. Before arriving in Sweden, it is important to ensure that you have adequate insurance. Read more.

***Registration is only possible one week before the start of the semester. You will receive an email with instructions on how to register for your courses and activate your JU user account when the registration is open.***


Please note that the registration is mandatory.


The login process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Visit www.ju.se/registration

(Please note that you will not be able to log in via the link above until you have received an email from us)


Step 2: To retrieve the one-time password, fill in in the username.

Username - the one used for the online application system Mobility Online and the housing application.

You need a JU card to access premises on campus, borrow books from the University Library, access printers, get student discounts, etc. You should order your JU card when activating your account. You can either upload a picture online or take one at one of the photo booths around campus once you arrive. More info can be found at ju.se/ju-card

JU Mobile allows you to access your schedule through the app as well as book rooms, register for exams, see your study results, view the news, etc. You can download it on the App Store, or Google Play.

08:30 - 10:30 -Student Health, Safety and Wellness at JU

Information from Student Health Care, Accommodation Office, Student Union, Chaplaincy, and the Swedish Police. Information about Insurances.

11:00 - 12:00 - "Gateway to the Swedish Culture and Traditions", lecturer Johan Larsson.

What does “lagom” mean and why is the Swedish coffee break “fika” so important in Sweden? In this interactive and fun lecture, you will learn about Swedish culture and language and how history has shaped Sweden and its citizens to be the country it is today.

Thursday 22 August

08:30 - 10:00 - Academic Integrity and Education Support at Jönköping University

Learn about how to succeed in your courses and what academic support services that are available to students! Important information regarding academic integrity will be shared and representatives from the library, academic resources center and student support office will give an overview of what activities and resources they offer students.

Friday 23 August

10:00-11:00- Welcome to Jönköping, by the Mayor and the Municipality!

Take the chance to meet the mayor, get a free Jönköping patch and cinnamon bun! Presented by Jönköping Municipality and Destination Jönköping

11:00-13:00- New Student Welcome Fair

The fair offers a unique possibility for you as new as a student to touch base with representatives from Jönköping University, including Student Union Associations as well as different departments and support functions from JU. There will also be external exhibitors connected with Jönköping University and the city of Jönköping.

At JU, it is compulsory for all students to become members of Jönköping Student Union. The Student Union is a great resource for students – they influence the quality of education, arrange activities and trips, carry out various projects, and much more. The student union fee is included in the tuition for tuition-fee paying students, however, all other students are required to pay the membership fee separately. ***Please note that all Certificates of Arrival and Departure should be signed physically once you are at present at JU. Learning agreements can be signed either physical or digitally via the case system or the DLA platform of your home university***


  • Signing Document drop-in: 10:00-11:00 Thursday 22 August, in the HLK entrance (outside of the JU-aula)

(This session is only for students who have received documents from their home university that they need to have signed. If you have not received any documents, you do not need to attend).

 

Please make sure to fill in the information requested on the documents before you submit them to be signed!


You can submit your Learning Agreement to be signed via our case management system, http://exchange.ju.se, please choose case type: incoming exchange or via the DLA platform of your home university.

It is compulsory to attend the Introduction Week, however if for some reason you are unable to arrive in time, please contact the International Office (choose "Incoming Exchange" as the case type). Also remember to contact the Accommodation Office about your late arrival: accommodation@ju.se.
