Medical tests

On this page you can read more about tests and resources available via the Student Health Care and the Health Care Centers.

We are at the moment not able to offer tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea at the Student Health Care. For more information about how to get tested, please visit 1177.se.

Most people who have Chlamydia have no symptoms, but the infection can be transmitted anyway. If you take the test and discover that you are infected, the condition can usually be effectively cured with appropriate antibiotics, if detected in time.

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection in Sweden, usually transmitted through intercourse. In those cases where symptoms are exhibited, this usually occurs after a couple of weeks with the most common symptom being a painful or burning sensation when urinating. There may also be some pain and swelling of the joints. Chlamydia is a disease that comes under the Communicable Diseases Act which stipulates that the infection must be traced. The best protection against Chlamydia is to use a condom.

If you as a student need to do an MRB screening before your clinical placement, please visit the Service Center. The Service Center will provide you with a signed letter that you bring to the screening which will be performed at Hälsan 2. It is a Primary health care center nearby the Campus.

The term multiresistant bacteria (MRB) refers to bacteria that have become resistant to multiple antibiotics that are normally effective in treating them (e.g. MRSA, ESBL, ESBL-CARBA, VRE).

All students who have done a work placement within healthcare and/or geriatric care while being on exchange have to undergo MRB Screening. The same applies to all students who have been hospitalised or treated at a polyclinic abroad within the last six months. The screening must be performed prior to the start of a work placement within healthcare and/or geriatric care.

All foreign exchange students who are going to do a work placement within healthcare and/or geriatric care during their exchange studies at the School of Health and Welfare also have to undergo MRB Screening. The screening must be performed prior to the work placement.
