Before I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in “International Marketing” at JIBS I was studying business administration and tourism at the University of Applied Sciences in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Jönköping International Business School attracted me because of its international character. My previous experiences abroad in Thailand, the Netherlands and the US inspired me and I was looking for a university that could offer an international environment coupled with the right courses that would cover my passion for marketing. As the Master’s programme in “International Marketing” offers an interesting mix of courses such as consumer behaviour, marketing research or marketing communications I decided to go for it. Being at JIBS has been invaluable to me since it has contributed to my understanding of cultural diversity.
During one of my classes I was involved in a project for a small local business that wanted to export its product to overseas markets. It was a great experience as the group and I were working on a real life case that we could – among others – provide with a market potential analysis, market entry strategy, implications and recommendations that we presented during a board meeting.
Studying in Sweden is just wonderful! The university system is very different from what I was used to: you do not only attend lectures, you also take part in seminars, work on individual assignments and – what I find most interesting – much emphasis in put on group projects. The professors are very helpful and encourage open communication, feedback, and discussion.
